A ferris is belt driven so it probably would have survived that.... just saying would definitely have to replace the blades though

You're lucky it broke the gearbox and didn't bend or break your engine crank. I've seen that happen on mowers.

More then 10 years ago, my neighbors lawn service company mowed over the city water shut off access which cut off 3 inch diameter cast iron pipe, 1 inch long and it ended up in my back yard. When I cut the lawn, I hit it and it went through the mower deck and bent the valves in the engine. It had to replace the whole mower. It wasn't cost-effective to repair it. Naturally, the neighbors lawn service denied it was responsible. I learned to always walk the lawn prior to mowing.

Take the Gear box apart Put in in a Press, and Tig weld the Crack, You will Be surprised.

Seems like a bad design if the sheer pins sheered, but the gear box was still damaged...

I went from using hypoid oil to using "00" grease (others use it too). It seems to work better. Still to change it, though.

Those decks are tough,i have had to replace the entire deck,and rebuild it later due to needing the machine quckly

The only downside to commercial equipment is commercial prices on parts. I found this out when I bought a house, I found out the Breaker box is a commercial one, they want $100+ for the latch assembly that is missing and it consists of a small steel flat latch, a small spring and a screw. The same would be less than $10 if it were for a residential breaker box.

I had 2 Pacers. One was a 78, 258 4 speed. The other was a 80 station wagon with a 304 auto. Both cars were fun to drive.

You might of bent the crank for each shaft spinning the blades? If working on the mower to take the spark plug wire off of the spark plug. This way is almost impossible for it to start. Never work on any lawm mower - mower with the spark plug on! It can cut one's fingers, hands, toes, feet off. I use to work at Sears at our product repair facility and we always take the spark plug off of the push mower. Be safe!

No, it’s not crazy. I have eight walkers and they’re all filled with grease and quiet them down a lot. And I think you should actually switch over to a mulching deck instead of the one that’s on there.

As a kid, we had a Pacer rental while on vacation in Hawaii. We went to Hana, and managed to get both families inside the Pacer, all nine of us. I can recall being wedged into the hatch with two teenage girls, which I quite enjoyed! Haven't seen a Pacer on the roads in decades, but I did see a Gremlin the other day.

It depends. Some vehicles it's ok, some not.
